Dance Gallery is a unique, multigenerational collaborative founded in '91, of modern dancers who aim to foster the growth and appreciation of modern dance in our community. Dance Gallery offers on-going classes, opportunities to perform, choreograph and teach, and attend workshops with guest teachers. This past year they were co-sponsors with Bellingham Parks & Recreation of multigenerational movement classes and special workshops for children and the disabled.

Dance Gallery was a recipient of a '99 Mayor's Arts Award for outstanding contribution to the growth of arts in Bellingham. Dance Gallery's dancers have performed at local theaters, schools, and fundraisers and in various venues in Whatcom County and Seattle, at Bumbershoot, FirstNight/Tacoma, and in Olympia, Nanaimo, Friday Harbor and Port Townsend.

Dance Gallery 's annual spring performance is in April, and features new work by Cornish College instructor Wade Madsen, and Kathleen McClintock, director of the Dance Department at Mills College. Renowned choreographer, teacher, and dancer Bill Evans will return next summer to commission another piece for the group, and teach a workshop for the community.

Dance Gallery members contribute their time and skills to develop dance programs. The organization's primary expenses are for guest choreography and theater and studio rental costs. Dance Gallery keeps class costs low to encourage participation and opportunity. They share the belief that movement is vital and see modern dance as the ultimate art form, with its artistry, creativity, athleticism, and expression. Please support this creative and vital cultural resource.
