Lummi Island Heritage Trust is dedicated to preserving the rural character, natural heritage, and scenic beauty of Lummi Island, one of the jewels of the San Juan Island archipelago. The Heritage Trust pursues its mission by working cooperatively with landowners to conserve the island's open space and wildlife habitat.
In the past three years, the Heritage Trust has created two nature preserves totaling 112 acres and signed agreements with 12 landowners, placing permanent protection on 150 additional acres. With a small staff, dedicated volunteers, and a growing membership, the organization's goal is to protect another 500 acres in the next five years.
Lummi Island is an extraordinary place, but as development pressure continues to intensify, the island's spectacular scenery, diverse wildlife habitats, and small community atmosphere are all threatened.
Given the island's relatively small population, the Heritage Trust has a very limited number of potential supporters. That is why every contributor is so crucial to the organization's continued success.
Your support can help ensure that Lummi Island's precious natural landscapes and rural heritage are protected now, and for the future.
