Established in 1987, Evergreen AIDS Foundation (EAF) began as a grassroots community effort to meet the needs of people in Bellingham living with HIV and AIDS. Over the last 10 years EAF has evolved to become the largest community based AIDS service organization north of Seattle and south of Vancouver B.C.
EAF offers a continuum of services from outreach and prevention/education to direct care and support services for over 112 people with HIV/AIDS in Whatcom and Skagit County.
While there is hope, there still is no cure and EAF's caseloads continue to steadily increase. As the epidemic changes EAF provides case management, mental health services, emergency financial assistance, education, and volunteer support to clients living with the complex and often debilitating drug regimens which keep them alive.
The agency relies on corporate grants, fundraising, and contributions to cover 20 percent of the annual operating budget for services in Whatcom County. In the face of positive media, many in the community do not realize that EAF services are more essential than ever - and that community donations ensure its services are available to ever increasing numbers of people living with HIV/AIDS in Whatcom County.
In addition, the agency is also the regional administrator for Federal Ryan White Care Act funds -- which support other care providers in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and San Juan Counties. Those who live with this disease need your support. Can you help?
