Interfaith Coalition
To view current contact information for this organization, please see WhatcomCounts.org Local Resources.

Interfaith Coalition is a partnership of nearly 50 congregations in Whatcom County working to provide the most basic necessities to local people in need. By combining financial and volunteer resources to achieve a common goal, congregations, working together through the coalition, can achieve much more than each could working alone.

The work of Interfaith Coalition focuses on two areas of need: health care for people with low incomes and housing for homeless families.

Interfaith Community Health Center provides quality medical, dental and mental-health care to low-income people in the community. The health center has been affiliated with Interfaith Coalition from its beginning as a coalition program in 1982. Today, as an independent nonprofit entity, the health center continues to receive financial and volunteer support from Interfaith Coalition enabling it to provide health care to hundreds of patients every day.

Interfaith Coalition operates six units of family housing for homeless families in our community. Its emergency housing units provide short-term shelter to families in crisis, while families may stay up to two years in its transitional housing units, paying a subsidized rent as they work toward achieving self-sufficiency.

In all cases, families meet regularly with case managers, who provide counseling and referrals to community resources. Integrating case management into our housing program increases a family's chance of becoming self-sufficient by giving them the training, support, and hope they need to be successful in the community.

Additionally, Interfaith Coalition trains volunteer teams to support homeless families as they work toward self-sufficiency. Interfaith Coalition also coordinates an annual countywide winter coat drive, distributing coats through local food banks to children and adults in need, and a holiday program that matches homeless families with congregational sponsors who provide these families with gifts.

Interfaith and those they help are grateful for your support.
