Raising a child is a community wide effort. It really does take a village.

Adolescence has always been a difficult time. Each of us remembers our own struggle, and most know how important family and community were to our success - providing safety, stability, support, and loving care. Many young people lack that essential support. As a result, some make bad decisions and end up in trouble with the law. Sometimes children, youths and families encounter conflicts too big to handle on their own. A heartbreaking number of kids grow up suffering from the effects of neglect and abuse.

Northwest Youth Services has been working since 1976 to provide a network of comprehensive, results oriented services designed to ensure safety, and deliver the tools youths and their families need to make positive decisions and real change. These tools include adult mentors for youth, parent support groups, youth and family counseling, a 24 hour crisis phone hotline, youth shelter and family mediation for runaways and homeless youths, teen court, and treatment foster care services. Each year hundreds of children, youths and families from Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, Island, and San Juan counties are served. For 26 years, NWYS has built effective programs that serve as a safety net and a continuum of care to meet the needs of at-risk kids, families and communities dealing with the challenges of our changing world.

You can help provide safety, shelter, professional guidance and loving care to children and young people who need it. And with a top-flight charity like this you know it's a good investment.
