Everyday, Whatcom Crisis Services works to make every home a safe home. The mission of the agency is to support individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault and to lead the community towards ending these abuses of power. Whatcom Crisis Services believes that any effort to reduce domestic and sexual violence must include a combination of prevention education, early intervention, advocacy and support services for victims as well as treatment and accountability for those who perpetrate abuse. Whatcom Crisis Services is a community-based agency whose programs are designed to ensure that youth and adults, men and women, victims and abusers receive the help they need. Whatcom Crisis Services has been providing a wide range of services in Whatcom County since 1979 and is the county's only state-certified, community sexual assault program and also provides the area's only walk-in advocacy services for victims of domestic violence. Services include: 24-hour sexual assault hotline, support groups for adult and youth survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, legal & medical advocacy, on-going advocacy, safety planning & parenting support, school-based prevention education for middle and high school students and referrals for shelter, housing and basic needs. Whatcom Crisis Services holds the position that collaborative efforts greatly enhance a community's ability to achieve positive change. Whatcom Crisis Services continuously strives to establish innovative partnerships with nonprofit, public and private sector agencies. Through collaboration, communities can stop the cycle of violence. You can join this effort by becoming involved in Whatcom Crisis Services. Your contribution of time, money or resources will make a difference in your community. By joining the work of Whatcom Crisis Services to end abuse, you can make a positive change in the lives of those who have suffered from abuse. Together, we can make every home a safe home.
